Free Water Storage iPhone Application from the Bureau of Meterology

The Bureau of Meteorology has made its official Water Storage iPhone application available for free at the iTunes App Store.

The application supplements the water storage information on the Bureau’s website, providing users with access to information on more than 250 publicly-owned water storage locations across Australia.iphpne application from Bureau of Meteorology

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, this iPhone application and website marks the first time that current Australia-wide water storage information is available from a single source.

Users can find how much water and water storage is available in Australia by state and capital city. Users can also see current water levels by percentage or volume in megalitres (ML).

The iphone application also allows comparisons of current levels to the previous calendar year, previous month, week or the previous day.

The application and website is part of a series of new water information products that the Bureau of Meteorology will deliver using the new Australian Water Resources Information System.

The improved access to information is the first step in a long-term strategy to improve community understanding of Australia’s water availability, condition and use, and to inform decision making around the management of water.
